Erbil, Iraq – May 31, 2024: A significant fire erupted at the fire at Lanaz oil refinery in Erbil on the Al-Kuwayr-Erbil road today, causing extensive damage and drawing immediate emergency responses. Civil defense teams successfully contained the blaze, which had posed a considerable threat due to the refinery’s flammable materials.

The fire, visible from afar, sent dark plumes of smoke into the sky, causing alarm among local residents and businesses. Six fire engines were deployed to combat the inferno, which was brought under control within a few hours.
